Does anyone besides your parents still buy CDs?

Why doesn't the music industry update CDs? They will soon be obsolete like cassettes.
The drop in compact disc sales has been plaguing the music industry for years. Most people with internet access are content with downloading their must have songs. However, the music industry could compete with online offerings. CDs could be improved while offering a lower cost to consumers. Record companies could make CDs more like DVDs with recording studio outtakes, bonus songs, and remixes. No more later released "deluxe" editions or redundant 6 track maxi-singles. Maybe the artists could make videos prior to the album's release and offer them on the flipside of the disc. True fans would prefer this to the time spent and headache of searching for it all online. The cost could perhaps be lowered by containing fewer tracks, no fillers, and less packaging.
